Job Position: Quality Assurance Engineer

Description

  • We need a QA engineer whose role plays an important part in our company’s product development process. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective.
  • The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end testing of product/features, designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions.
  • You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance while working closely with engineering leadership and product managers to ensure the highest quality is maintained and the products are reliable and robust.
  • In summary, the purpose of this role is to prevent the possible errors in manufacturing or production that may lead to product defects.

Responsibilities
Job Competencies and capabilities:

  • Handle the day-to-day quality assurance and testing activities that are part of the SCRUM process, including, but not limited to: estimation, scheduling, support, problem resolution, and enhancements handling, etc.
  • Ensure the product delivery meets the quality standards that are defined by the company.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Define testing strategy and work with cross functional team members to implement it.
  • Design test scenarios and automate them to increase test coverage of products' functionalities.
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze result.
  • Manage functional test automation infrastructure, write and update test scenarios in collaboration with product and engineering.
  • Monitor the software bug tracking process, including prioritization of the logged software bugs; ensure the issues (defects) were resolved in a timely manner according to the agreed schedule and priority.
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and product managers) to identify system requirements.
  • Participate in product documentation review and suggest improvements to increase their quality.
  • Suggesting improvements to software processes to prevent future mistakes during in delivery.
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client need.
  • Perform the different types of tests required to certify the quality of an application before deployment.
  • Carry out exploratory/learning tests for new features.
  • Processing quality audits and quality assurance reviews.
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
  • Ensures that every feature being deployed is without bugs.
  • Investigate the causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions.
  • Investigating causes of defects that occur during the testing phase.
  • Maintains records of bugs captured for applications.
  • Reporting discovered defects to all relevant departments for correction using project tracking tools.
  • Report progress information on the agreed work to be done.
  • Conduct post release/post implementation testing.
  • Work with developers, product managers in designing payment and credit solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers to meet quality standards and align with delivery priorities.
  • Communicating with Project Managers/ Developers about existing defects and how to prevent them in future projects.
  • Conforming to regulations and international standards when it comes to testing and quality assurance.

Requirements
To succeed at this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's Degree / BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • A good working knowledge of test management software, programming languages, and QA methodologies.
  • Proven work experience in software development.
  • A minimum of 3 years QA experience, with some experience in test automation for mobile or web applications and backend services preferably in a fintech environment.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Experience in reviewing product requirements and design, creating test plans, test cases and test reports.
  • Experience with software design and development in a test-driven environment.
  • Experience in debugging.
  • Experience generating test cases on testing platforms such as zephyr
  • Experience with one or more programming languages, API testing tools such as Postman, Git and at least 1 CI tool.
  • Experience defining testing strategy, writing detailed test plans, defect management and manual/exploratory testing.
  • Experience writing scripts using one or more automation tools such as Espresso, Barista, XCUITest, EarlGrey or Selenium will be an advantage.
  • A solid understanding of agile and the role of QA in iterative development cycles.
  • Detail oriented, analytical, collaborative, and proven track record of learning on the job.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Manual testing experience on mobile.
  • Communicate clearly and early about challenges, root causes and possible risks to various stakeholders.
