Job Description


  • The Head of Finance is accountable for the financial and risk management operations including development of financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve the company assets and report accurate financial results.
  • As a Strategic Business Partner to the leadership team, he/she counsels the management on fiscal control and profitability; prepares, presents, and interprets financial reports to the management; adheres to tax laws and regulatory compliance to properly reflect the financial position of the business.

Responsibilities
Strategic:

  • Oversees all company accounting practices, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
  • Directs financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with the management and other department heads.
  • Supervises investment and raising of funds for business growth opportunities and analyzing for impact and returns
  • Assist the CEO to effectively communicate the company’s financial performance to the Board of Directors and Shareholders.
  • Provide industry trends, opportunities for expansion and projection of future company growth, not limited to local opportunities but with strong awareness of Global perspectives.
  • Develop with a efficiency and awareness, polices and standards that are aimed at ensuring optimal utilization of the company/departmental resources for the overall achievement of the company's set objectives; long-term and periodic.

Operational:

  • Oversees the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies.
  • Oversees Finance departments, budget preparation, and verification functions. Meets regularly with unit heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
  • Supervises investment of funds; works with banks and/or investment bankers to raise additional capital as required for expansion.
  • Ensure that all relevant insurances are in place and represent value for money with employees familiarized with policies ensuring that claims are made as necessary.
  • In performing this role, you shall ensure the following:
    • Ensure proper establishment, documentation, implementation, control and maintenance of Quality, Cost, Labor and Time Management Systems
    • Management is properly guided on all long-range economic trends and projects company prospects for future growth in overall sales and market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new business areas
    • Consistently monitor risks catalogues & portfolios, proactively ensuring below minimum acceptance.
    • Constantly communicate very high customers service standards, setting extra-ordinary expectations
    • Know the current market share of owned business in the industry.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Develop and review Financial reports and present to the management, and/or when requested by the Board the following reports by Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annually and Annually but not limited to:
    • Profit and Loss Report
    • Balanced Sheet Report
    • Cashflow Performance Report
    • Business Audit, Control and Risk Management exceptions
    • Review and monitor business operating reports, ensuring effectiveness as to analyze the following;
    • Return on Capital Employed
    • Annual Revenue growth rate
    • General Admin Activity Report
    • Inventory return and impact report
    • Services delivery dashboard and achievement status

Educational Qualification

  • B.Sc Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from a reputable tertiary institution
  • ICAN / ACCA or other recognized accounting/finance qualification is required.
  • Master’s Degree in any of the above fields or MBA would be desirable.
  • Experience in finance in a startup or Tech is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years as Finance Manager or Head of Finance experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience within a fast-moving and dynamic business environment.

Salary Range
N500,000 - N750,000 / Month
