Job Description


  • The Junior Mechanical Design Engineer at Buckler Ordnance would be responsible for creating and documenting detailed 2D shop drawings. You will work closely with the MDE to ensure detailed engineering drawings are produced and issued to the shop floor at all times. You must also be able to accurately read design blueprints.
  • In this role, your aim is to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for our equipment. You would work closely with the CEO to provide support in developing, launching, and improving the organization's manufacturing process and product designs whilst also ensuring products and systems perform to their desired purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to create 3D conceptualizations from client specification
  • Create detailed shop drawings (2D & 3D) from 3D models
  • Works closely with MDE, operations, manufacturing, and production engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacture.
  • Develops mechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Works with the MDE to ensure system and product quality are as per standard and specification by designing testing methods; testing finished product and system capabilities, confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Ensures that all drawings are properly documented, and all revisions are up to date.
  • Attends technical meeting and documents design changes.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars and when required, generates minutes from design reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree qualification.
  • 1 year experience in an engineering role or similar role within Military or similar industry
  • Experience in designing industry-specific products.
  • AutoCAD / Solid works experience
  • Familiarity with technical specifications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
