Job Description


  • The main purpose of this position is to provide Civil & Structural Engineering Management Services during the proposal, design and construction stages of all company projects with strict adherence to the respective project contract.

Responsibilities

  • Support company proposals by introducing and promoting innovation cost saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept.
  • Actively participate in marketing activities like tender processing, preparing costing sheets, sending RFQ’s to Contractors, review of quotations, and replying to queries from various officials and contractors
  • On-site assessment and evaluation of existing equipment, steel structures, foundations, etc., in so called “brown field” substation projects
  • Provide expertise and support to the proposal and project teams in validating construction sub-contractor bids, and in negotiating sub-contracts
  • Prepare, update and support the execution of civil & structural engineering and site activities in the schedule with emphasis on; On-time delivery, Quality of deliverables and Project costs.
  • Work with the project lead engineers to develop the Design Criteria and the Document Deliverables list for the projects.
  • Provide engineering and design support in specific civil & structural engineering areas
  • Resolve civil and structural design issues as identified by the project execution team.
  • Notify the project lead engineers of any difficulties encountered in the engineering and design that may adversely impact the safety, reliability, quality, cost, or schedule of the project deliverables, and provide recommendations for solutions.
  • Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of civil & structural design packages from internal engineering and outsourced sub-contractor engineering.
  • Utilize knowledge of applicable standards and codes to ensure that designs comply with the required national and local codes and requirements.
  • Assist the Managing Director in meeting the organization’s goals.
  • Adhere to quality processes and document control procedures to ensure design documents are complete and accurate.
  • Developing integrated structural designs of buildings, renovations, or restorations from conception through to completion and performing supporting calculations for the planned work;
  • Developing technical procedures and contributing to the development of standards, specifications, construction documents, and guidelines;
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials;
  • Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems;
  • Meeting with construction professionals and clients to discuss feasibility of designs;
  • Working with computer-aided design software to create blueprints and images and carrying out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications.
  • Conduct on-site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings, and others).
  • Perform Change Management (including providing technical information to support variations)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 20 years of experience in foundation, reinforced concrete, and steel design.
  • Membership of COREN and NSE
  • Knowledge and understanding of Geotechnical site surveys, earthworks, site grading and drainages, Concrete works, foundations (pad, piling, etc.), cofferdam, and Quality Tests
  • Knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (STAAD) and/or Structural Analysis Program (SAP2000) is necessary.
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suites.
  • Minimum of 10 years managing Oil and Gas Industry related projects.
