Job Description


  • In this role, you are the single point of contact for local leaders in a specific geographic or plant location.
  • You manage the interactions between business stakeholders and sourcing teams and collaborate across the manufacturing, supply chain and the commercial business.
  • You also manage the local implementation of regional and/or global projects.

How you will contribute

  • You will execute the daily procurement agenda by acting as the single point of contact for the procurement function at a site, in a country or country cluster, and will oversee the daily interaction with plants, supply chain, commercial teams, quality assurance, sourcing teams and suppliers.
  • You will also deliver service-level targets by ensuring material availability, escalating when needed, and support business continuity planning implementation, activating when needed, support the execution of sourcing projects and execute sourcing/spot-buying or contracting activities as agreed with the accountable spend areas, and own the source-to-pay process compliance key indicators and take corrective action when necessary

What you need to know about this position:

  • Drives the procurement agenda for the West Africa Cluster (Nigeria, Ghana) acting as the single point of contact for the WA LT for the Procurement function.
  • The position assists with the execution of short-term and long-term strategies that align with the company goals for reducing costs, improving cash and achieve other company financial goals.
  • Translates WA Cluster goals on sustainable growth, value delivery and other business needs into effective procurement action plans, partnered and aided by suppliers.
  • Assesses near-term and long-term plans to establish supplier priorities balanced with business needs; consults with management, and other subject experts to develop alternative solutions; advises on options, risks, total cost of ownership, and business impacts. Location based procurement leader across all spend towers, categories, and operations team.
  • As a member of the SSA procurement leadership team and WA Cluster MSC leadership team, the position directly leads a team of Procurement Specialists to support the Cluster and leads the larger Cluster based global procurement colleagues, if any, owning the overall engagement and career agenda.
  • The Procurement lead has managerial responsibility for end-to-end procurement for West Africa (Nigeria and Ghana).

Key Deliverables

  • Financial Metrics: COGS Productivity, Cash & Comm/Fx and Non-COGS Productivity impacting WA Cluster P&L
  • Supplier Performance and Development: Enhancing metrics on OTIF, building, and executing robust BCP to drive sustained growth (effective use of SLEA). Mapping and developing adequate supplier capacities with efficient geographical network. Focus on localization to optimize imports. Scope includes Internal and External Manufacturing/copacking within cluster
  • Operational responsibility for External Manufacture
  • Process Excellence: Partnering the global Procurement Capability function to implement new age technologies locally, including training and tool adoption. Delivery of best-in-class Source-to-Pay (STP) process metrics. Adherence to the Global Procurement policy (GPP), Contract excellence with good audit results. Focus on sensitive areas ion, assessment, and closure of control gaps.
  • Market Intelligence: Generation and analysis of market data for local commodities, to facilitate coverage, pricing, and forecasting
  • Quality and Food Safety: Ensuring adherence to MDLZ internal standards and compliance to external govt/regulatory norms. Effective management of Quality Notifications (QN) and Non-conformances Partnering closely with the QFS team
  • Execution Excellence: Partnerships with Global Business Services team to drive third party engagements effectively with stated value delivery on global procurement programs.
  • People and Engagement: Enabling wider organizational programmes around engagement and careers, providing coaching and relevant exposure to colleagues as needed.

Education / Certifications

  • Relevant Degree / National Diploma
  • More than 5 years of Procurement practitioner experience, broad background across different business functions
  • At least 7 years of Managerial experience (3 of which must be in managing teams in Procurement)
  • Strong people Management and Skills Development

Job Specific Requirements

  • Develop and deliver local strategy plans through a comprehensive understanding of supplier offerings and their relative capabilities within the BU to support localization of suppliers where applicable
  • Develop and partner with key strategic suppliers, who are highly capable, flexible to the complexities of our business and able to unlock value through re-engineering in the local market.
  • Manage all Internal Stakeholders in the Cluster on all procurement related matters, support local purchasing requests in collaboration with the Spend Area Organization and in alignment with the MDLZ Global Procurement operating model
  • Drive productivity for the West Africa Cluster and lead the procurement interface on all new product development within the cluster through efficient NPD/Innovation support/delivery.
  • Responsible for delivering cost and cash as well as execution of day-to-day operational procurement activities in west Africa to ensure all purchase requirements for country are served with the lowest possible cost, at the right quality and delivery timings while complying with Mondelez global procurement policy.
  • Drive productivity for the West Africa Cluster and lead the procurement interface on all new product development within the cluster through efficient NPD/Innovation support/delivery.
  • Work with global or regional Spend Area teams to implement contracts locally and to provide local specifics and insights as required to ensure compliance with local governance requirements.

    • Minimum of First Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • ACA/ACCA/CIMA is ideal etc.

  • Support accounting and external reporting activities including accurate and timely U.S. GAAP reporting and timeliness and integrity of statutory financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, KPIs, fixed assets, restructuring and intercompany charges. As required, you will support activities performed by Mondel?z International Business Services/third-party service providers during month/quarter /year-end close, statistical reporting and statutory audit

  • The position coordinates and manages financial reporting activities and US GAAP reporting during month-end close processes for the business in West Africa (Nigeria & Ghana).
  • In this role, you will foster a strong connection with the regional team and when appropriate, with the corporate controlling team to ensure full compliance with Mondel?z International’s Accounting and External Reporting (AER) policies and to ensure that we are adopting U.S. GAAP accounting standards in a timely manner.
  • This entails working with our Mondel?z International Business Services organization to drive accurate preparation and timely reporting and to ensure proper reconciliations for all accounts in the market.
  • You will also ensure that we comply with all local accounting standards, see to the timely filing of financial statements and of indirect tax returns/payments (e.g. VAT, WHT, PAYE e.t.c.) for our Ghana Entity.

Education / Certifications

  • University Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in statutory/ GAAP accounting / preferably in international business environment of a publicly listed entity
  • Must be a member of ICAN, ACCA or its equivalent.

Job specific requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP / International Accounting Standards (for GAAP) Proficiency in MS office and SAP.
