Job Position: Senior Human Resources Officer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • The Senior HR Officer will focus on performance management and training and development, s/he will also manage other HR tasks and operations working with the HR Manager.

Performance Management:

  • Encourage a culture of objective setting and result measurement to monitor and measure the performance of employees.
  • Develop measurable KPIs and competency models working with line managers for the various job roles within the organization.
  • Design, take ownership and work with management in implementing a performance management system that consistently captures KPIs, and individual objectives and aligns teams to organizational goals.
  • Introduce a structured Appraisal Plan that ensures all employees are appraised as at when due as per HR Policy.
  • Advise and guide managers to assess the competencies of employees using the appraisal system.
  • Collate, and analyse performance appraisal results and produce performance Appraisal reports to management and ensure team members receive timely performance-related feedback.
  • Perform Quarterly Performance appraisal training for line managers and heads of departments and provide support should they face challenges with the implementation.
  • Work closely with managers to identify employee needs and design personal improvement and development plans.
  • Routinely review KPIs and competency tracking systems to determine their ongoing ability to support our business objectives and the evolving requirements of each role.

Training:

  • Identify the learning gaps and training needs of employees through needs assessment surveys, appraisals and consultation with managers.
  • Develop an Annual Training Plan with relevant training Courses, Programs and calendar.
  • Drive the organizational culture in all training programs and activities.
  • Use training to set a direction for succession planning by identifying key competencies for essential roles.
  • Introduce relevant coaching techniques for managers to help them mentor, upskill and retain the top talents.

Other Duties:

  • Support in arranging recruitment and the hiring of employees.
  • Conduct routine Engagement and Exit surveys, interpret data gathered and report findings and recommendations to management.
  • Maintain an up-to-date HR filing system.
  • Assist with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.
  • Provide cover in the HR department on a needs basis.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices
  • Other duties within the scope as needed by the department or requested by management.

Job Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations or Business Administration.
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience.
  • Any relevant professional certification (CIPMN, CIPD, SHRM) is a requirement.
  • Must have completed NYSC with over 3 years of work experience as an HR professional.
  • Proficient IT and computer skills including the ability to operate spreadsheets and word-processing programs.
  • Great attention to detail.
